SECO Energy scored an impressive 88 in the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) for 2017. SECO members have remained consistently satisfied with the cooperative’s performance; SECO’s ACSI rating has hovered at nearly 90 over the last few years.
ACSI is a leading customer satisfaction benchmark measuring customer satisfaction for hundreds of products and services across the United States. ACSI’s customer experience data is measurable cross industry.
Nationally in 2017, cooperative (not-for-profit) utilities scored an average of 78; municipal utilities averaged 72 while investor-owned utilities averaged 75. SECO Energy’s impressive 88 places the cooperative well-above its utility industry peers.
SECO Energy achieved national recognition again in 2017 when the Cooperative earned its third consecutive J.D. Power award for highest in customer satisfaction among cooperatives. Locally, SECO was awarded “Best of the Best” in the Utilities category in the Ocala Star Banner’s Readers’ Choice Awards, recognized as an Outstanding Partner from Marion County’s United Way and named the 2017 Large Business of the Year by the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce.
CEO Jim Duncan stated, “2017 was a phenomenally successful year for SECO Energy. Our employees’ dedication was most apparent after Hurricane Irma, as they restored service to affected members faster than any other major Central Florida utility. SECO’s membership continued to grow, energizing our 200,000th meter by year end. Our members benefitted from a $5.4 million Capital Credits retirement that is money in their pockets and a tangible difference of electric cooperative membership. Our system inspection and maintenance program, solidly built facilities and a rigorous vegetation management program have ensured members experience less outages with shorter duration than at any other point in our history.”
Duncan added, “SECO members’ continued satisfaction is a tribute to our Board of Trustees governance, the leadership of our Senior Staff and, most important, our 400 world-class, dedicated SECO employees.”
