SECO Energy has grown from a small rural utility founded as Sumter Electric Cooperative, Inc. in 1938 to a regional Central Florida not-for-profit cooperative serving over 220,000 homes and businesses. New service activity grew strongly in 2021, and it was another stellar year in terms of service reliability and financial performance. Our growth makes SECO Energy the third-largest co-op in Florida and the seventh largest in the nation out of more than 900 electric cooperatives.
