Damage Claim
SECO Energy members will occasionally inquire about who is responsible for damage incurred to their home or appliances that result from lightning, power outages, and other causes, and how to file a claim for these losses. We have answered frequently asked questions and a claim form below for your convenience.
Before submitting a claim, the Cooperative states in its Terms & Conditions of Service Policy 207.2 Cooperative’s Liability that it “does not ensure, guarantee or warrant that it will provide adequate, continuous or non-fluctuating Cooperative service. The Cooperative is not liable for damages, costs or expenses, including attorney fees or legal expenses, caused by the Cooperative providing inadequate, noncontinuous or fluctuating Cooperative services, unless the damages, costs or expenses are caused by the Cooperative’s gross negligence or willful misconduct. The Cooperative’s responsibility and liability for providing a Cooperative service terminate upon delivery of the service to a member.”
To file a claim, complete the form below in full and submit any receipts and/or repair estimates to support your claim. Claims that occurred more than 60 days before the claim submission may be ineligible for review.
Please Note:
SECO Energy works with several contractors directly responsible for the damage they cause to a member’s property. If SECO’s investigation determines that the contractor is the party responsible, we will forward the claim to the contractor.
