SECO Energy has grown from a small rural utility founded as Sumter Electric Cooperative, Inc. in 1938 to a regional Central Florida not-for-profit cooperative serving nearly 200,000 members. New service activity grew moderately during 2016, and it was another stellar year in terms of service reliability and financial performance. Our growth makes SECO Energy one of the third largest co-op in Florida and the sixth largest in the nation out of more than 900 electric cooperatives.

Our service area is equipped with nearly $850 million in utility plant assets. We invest $8 million annually in a comprehensive vegetation management program that prevents outages and keeps our system operating safely. Read more about our financial strength in the 2016 Annual Report.
