Installation:

Installation of the Surge MitiGator™ does not require an appointment. As a courtesy, SECO Energy’s qualified installer will knock on the door to advise that the power will be off for a few minutes during installation. Even if no one is home, the installation can be completed. 

COST OPTIONS: 

Choose the option that works best for you:

  • Lease: $5.95 per month, plus tax, with a one-time $40 installation fee
  • Purchase: $349.00 plus tax, with installation included

How it Works:

The Surge Mitigator™ is installed at your electric meter, where it helps block powerful voltage spikes from reaching your home’s electrical system. This provides an added layer of protection for large appliances.

While the Surge Mitigator™ helps reduce surges, no single device can protect against every surge. For the best protection, SECO Energy recommends using point-of-use surge protectors for sensitive electronics such as TVs, computers, and gaming systems. These devices are available at most hardware and home improvement stores. Protection levels and warranties vary, so be sure to review product details before purchasing.

Surge MitiGator Terms of Service

The Surge MitiGator is installed behind the meter and is designed to stop transient, high-voltage surges before they enter the home. The manufacturer offers a 15-year warranty for damage if the surge protection device fails to provide protection. The warranty covers the non-electronic components of residential, motor-driven appliances, such as refrigerator, stove, washer, dryer, HVAC unit, garbage disposal, and so on. Point-of-use suppressors are recommended for all sensitive electronic items and electronic components of motor-driven appliances that normally plug into 120-volt outlets. Though sensitive electronics are not covered under the warranty, point-of-use suppressors will provide a layer of protection and possibly warranty coverage through their manufacturer.  

Most meter-based surge protection devices have a clear window slightly larger than the size of a quarter; that displays two red lights, while others have a clear window slightly larger than the size of a dime that displays one light. The device is operational when the red light(s) appear. Contact SECO as soon as possible if a light is out. We will replace the surge protection device at no cost during the 15-year warranty period.  

SECO Energy does not process warranty claims for damage to appliances. Meter Treater provides the warranty and processes all warranty claims.
