SECO Energy Youth Scholarship Program
TWELVE WINNERS – $4,000 SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO EACH!
SECO Energy is committed to empowering the community through initiatives like the Youth Scholarship Program. For 2026, the SECO Energy Board of Trustees approved $48,000 in scholarships for up to twelve exceptional high school seniors who live in SECO’s service area to be awarded $4,000 each.
The 2026 Youth Scholarship Program application window is closed. Awardees will be notified by April 15, 2026. Thank you to everyone who applied.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are evaluated without discrimination based on sex, race, creed, or color. Emphasis will be given to those aiming for degrees in technology, business, engineering, or mathematics, especially as they relate to the energy sector. Relevant majors include, but are not limited to, computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, chemical, nuclear, environmental, civil, agricultural/biological, industrial, materials science, and various branches of mathematics.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- High School seniors who will graduate by the end of the school year (May/June 2026).
- Students enrolled full-time in an accredited Florida college, university, or vocational/technical school by the end of 2026.
- Students who reside at a home served by SECO Energy.
- Demonstrable financial need and adherence to all other eligibility criteria are essential.
Application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026. Submit questions to YouthPrograms@secoenergy.com. Winners will be notified by April 15, 2026. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
QUALIFICATIONS
Scholastic record (weighted GPA), school/community activities, financial need, and pursuit of an education in business or those commonly referred to as “STEM” educational programs.
DISBURSEMENT
The scholarship funds will be made payable to the student and the school and distributed after the student provides SECO with proof of acceptance from a Florida college, university, or vocational/technical school. Scholarships are to be used for tuition and/or books. Scholarships are non-renewable.
