Emergency Restoration (Widespread Damage)
When outages occur, SECO Energy follows a proven restoration process to safely restore as quickly as possible.
During major events, such as hurricanes or severe storms, restoration priorities are:
- Critical Facilities
Shelters, hospitals, schools, and government agencies are restored first. - High-Voltage Transmission Lines
These lines carry large amounts of electricity and must be repaired before power can flow to communities. - Distribution Substations
Substations serve hundreds or thousands of members. - Main Distribution Lines
These lines supply power to neighborhoods and large groups of members. - Individual Homes and Businesses
Once main lines are restored, crews repair lines serving individual locations.
SECO Energy restores power to the greatest number of members in the shortest time possible until all service is restored.
