Simple Ways to Lower Your Energy Bill:
- Set thermostats to 78° or higher in summer and 68° or lower in winter
- Keep the thermostat fan set to Auto
- Ensure attic insulation meets R-30 to R-38 standards
- Check or replace HVAC filters monthly and service the system annually
- Set water heater temperature to 120° or lower
- Avoid placing refrigerators in unconditioned spaces
- Plant trees on the south and west sides of your home for shade
- Use the air-dry setting on dishwashers
- Consider solar screens or reflective window film
- Replace frequently used bulbs with LEDs
