A request for the installation of the meter-based surge protection device has been initiated and will be completed as soon as possible – usually within 30 days. You do not need to be at home for the installation – no appointment is necessary. We will leave a door hanger to indicate the surge protection device has been installed.

The device carries a beastly 15-year warranty provided by the manufacturer, Meter Treater. All warranty claims are processed by the manufacturer.

Investing in the Surge MitiGator™ program is the first step in protecting your major appliances. For added protection, SECO recommends all appliances normally plugged into 120-volt outlets be plugged into point-of-use protectors. This includes, but is not limited to, refrigerators, microwaves, washing machines, sprinkler timers and garage door openers. Plug sensitive electronics such as TVs, cable boxes, DVRs, phones, and home computers into point-of-use devices as well. Though sensitive electronics and electronic components of motor-driven appliances are not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, point-of-use suppressors will provide additional protection.

You can purchase point-of-use protectors from home improvement, big box retailers, or local hardware stores. Match the suppressor to the item you wish to protect. For example, a TV may require a suppressor that includes a cable or satellite line, in addition to the electric plug, to be totally protected.
