SECO Energy Holds 2026 Annual Meeting – Members Vote on Historic Change

 

SECO Energy held its 2026 virtual Annual Meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2026. With 19,443 members participating in the cooperative’s governance process through their vote on Annual Meeting business.

 

SECO Energy members were asked to vote on a historic change, approving a fully restated Articles of Incorporation for the first time since the Cooperative began operating in 1938. Members also approved the 2025 Annual Meeting Minutes.

 

Highlights of the meeting included addresses from SECO Energy Chief Executive Officer Curtis Wynn and Board President Gerald Anderson. They provided important updates on the Cooperative’s business and financial standing to ensure members remain well informed about SECO Energy’s direction and policies.

 

This year’s Annual Meeting introduced a new format for these addresses, with Wynn and Anderson sitting down together for an episode of SECO’s podcast, Power Chat – In the Electric Lounge, to deliver their messages. Their discussion reinforced SECO Energy’s Mission to provide reliable and innovative energy services, along with its Vision and Values. Members were also invited to participate in a member engagement panel, where the Executive Leadership Team answered questions from the membership.

 

“This year marked continued growth and significant milestones for SECO Energy, including reaching 500 employees and serving over 265,000 members,” said CEO Wynn. “It also represents decades of commitment to innovation, exceptional service to our members, and active involvement in the communities we serve.”

 

Looking ahead, SECO Energy strategically focuses on improving operational efficiencies, strengthening its connection with members, and providing innovative solutions as it navigates the evolving energy landscape. Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which is a vital component that will help SECO navigate the future energy landscape, was fully rolled out in 2025. This marks a huge step towards modernizing the Cooperative’s services, offering members real-time insights into their energy use and enabling a more resilient, sustainable energy infrastructure for the future. SECO Energy remains steadfast in its Mission to enhance member experiences and lead the way in energy innovation as we move into the future.

SECO Energy Announces 2025 Virtual Annual Business Meeting

SECO Energy will host its 2025 Annual Business Meeting virtually on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 6 p.m. Members can join the webcast by visiting SECOEnergy.com and clicking the virtual Annual Meeting banner at the top of the homepage. Links to the broadcast will also be published on SECO Energy’s Facebook, X, and Instagram pages.

 

Members who tune into the Virtual Annual Meeting will be introduced to SECO Energy’s nine-member Board of Trustees, Board President Gerald Anderson will deliver the President’s Report, and CEO Curtis Wynn will provide a cooperative update.

 

SECO Energy CEO Curtis Wynn encourages members to take part in the upcoming Annual Meeting and make their voices heard.  “Members, we need your vote on Annual Meeting business,” said Wynn.

 

SECO is giving away 100 Annual Meeting prizes including five $1,000 cash prizes, SECO bill credits of up to $500, and randomly selecting 15 members during the live broadcast to win a $50 bill credit. To be entered into the prize drawing chance to win, submit voting ballots online at SECOEnergy.com, complete the ballot included with the Annual Meeting Notice, or call (352) 793-3801.

 

On the evening of the Annual Meeting, a live Member Engagement Panel will open for questions and comments starting at 5 p.m. Members may participate by emailing SECO2025AM@secoenergy.com or by calling (352) 329-MEET. Selected questions and comments appealing to the broader SECO Energy membership may be addressed live during the panel.

 

Member votes will be tallied, and prize winners will be announced at the end of the Annual Meeting broadcast on March 27. The list of prize winners will be available at SECOEnergy.com after the Meeting’s conclusion. Cash prize winners will be contacted to arrange delivery. Bill credit prizes will appear on the winners’ next billing statements.

SECO Energy Holds 2024 Annual Meeting with Record Member Participation  

SECO Energy held its 2024 virtual Annual Meeting celebrating its 85th year as an electric cooperative on Thursday, March 21, 2024. The Meeting had a record number of member participation with over 17,000 members participating in the Cooperative’s governance process through their vote on Annual Meeting business.

 

During the Meeting, SECO Energy’s membership approved two revisions to the Cooperative’s Bylaws pertaining to District Meetings and Trustee Qualifications and the 2023 Annual Meeting Minutes. SECO Energy’s Board of Trustees recommended both revisions, with the first revision allowing a Trustee candidate to be declared Trustee at the District Meeting without holding an uncontested election if only one candidate is certified by the secretary and the second clarifying the District residency requirements to serve as a Trustee. Members can access the updated Bylaws on SECOEnergy.com or at any SECO Energy Member Service Center.

 

Highlights of the Meeting included SECO Energy’s Board President Gerald Anderson and Chief Executive Officer Curtis Wynn delivering their respective addresses to the membership, providing important updates on the Cooperative’s business and financial standing to ensure SECO Energy members are well-informed of the Cooperative’s direction and policies. Their messages reinforced SECO Energy’s dedication to providing reliable and innovative energy services and the Cooperative’s Vision to lead in member satisfaction and engagement, inviting members to partake in SECO Energy’s Member Engagement Panel and have their questions answered by the Cooperative’s Executive Leadership Team.
